Frequently asked questions

What can I expect in the first session?

In our first session, we'll take time to get to know each other. We'll talk about what's been going on in your life, explore what led you to seek therapy, and figure out where you'd like to go from here. Together, we'll start shaping a plan that feels right for you—one that's based on your unique needs and goals. Building that connection is key to making sure this journey is meaningful and supportive for you.

What is Polyvagal Theory and how can it help me in therapy?

Polyvagal Theory explains how our nervous system reacts to stress by shifting between feeling safe and social, fight-or-flight, or shutting down. In therapy, we use this understanding to help you recognize stress and teach techniques to calm your body, restoring balance and control.

What is CBT and how can it help me in therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and change negative thought patterns, making it easier to manage stress and unhealthy relationship patterns. By teaching new ways to think and cope, CBT reduces anxiety, trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout, helping you build healthier relationships and improve emotional well-being.

What is EMDR and how can it help me in therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched and effective psychotherapy method used to treat trauma and other distressing life experiences by reprocessing difficult memories. EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of these memories, allowing you to move past them and gain a healthier perspective on your current life. Some sessions may last up to 90 minutes for deeper healing.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) under the No Surprises Act requires healthcare providers to give uninsured or self-pay patients an upfront estimate of costs for scheduled services. This estimate must include all reasonably expected charges and be provided at least three days in advance. If actual charges exceed the estimate by more than $400, patients can dispute the bill through a formal resolution process. Learn more
